Alumina ceramics possess excellent properties, including acid and alkali resistance as well as wear resistance, enabling their application in harsh conditions where many metals and non-metals fail. High alumina balls, also known asalumina ceramic balls, are made by rolling or pressing α-alumina powder and sintering it at a high temperature of 1600 degrees Celsius, resulting in wear-resistant ceramic products.
The characteristics of alumina ceramic balls are as follows:
1. High hardness: Alumina ceramics have a Mohs hardness of 9, which is only one level lower than that of diamond (with a Mohs hardness of 10).
2. Excellent wear resistance: Alumina ceramics have a slow consumption rate.
3. Corrosion resistance: Alumina is inert and does not react with acids or alkalis, avoiding corrosion in acidic conditions.
4. High strength and low fracture rate: Alumina ceramic balls have high strength and exhibit minimal deformity even after prolonged use.
5. High density: The density of high alumina balls is greater than 3.6g/cm3, which is half that of steel balls. This reduces over-grinding and equipment wear in fine grinding conditions, lowers equipment noise, and decreases energy consumption.
6. Non-toxic and harmless: The composition of high alumina balls complies with the restrictions of the EU ROHS directive.
